This was supposed to be about our quarterly HOA Board meeting…

Something happened on the way to the Incline Pines HOA quarterly Board meeting Thursday evening (Feb. 15) at the Incline Village Library.

Swiss Time Property manager Vojko Lapanja was out for a walk and his dog alerted to a great horned owl on the ground that appeared to be injured and unable to fly.

Board members made some phone calls and found Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care in South Lake Tahoe could take the bird, but had no one able to pick it up.

So after the meeting, Vojko returned to the owl with a thick blanket and gloves (talons are SHARP!) and brought the owl back to his office for the night.

Board member Susan Schwerd drove the owl to South Lake Tahoe Friday where the bird is recovering. Thank you Vojko and Susan!

Oh– yes, there was also a meeting of the HOA Board.

  • Snow removal update: Everyone agrees that Capstone is doing a good job with snow removal and the Board will later explore options to reduce wear and tear to our road
  • Following a recommendation from Swiss Time, the Board approved moving $150,000 from the HOA’s reserve fund into six-month CD(s) that will earn 5.1% interest with no risk to principle for early withdrawal if necessary
  • The Board would like to remind dog owners their pets must be leashed when walking the property and should not be left unattended outside– including on decks

The next Board meeting will take place in May, date TBA. We may need a short, special meeting before May to open bids for contracts.
