The snow keeps falling!

Well, this is the storm we’ve been waiting for.

Diamond Peak reports over nine feet of new snow from the latest storm system and nearly 17 feet for the season. Just like the good old days!

Caltrans says Interstate 80 is technically closed, but the Caltrans camera at Donner Summit at 7 pm showed occasional traffic.

The Incline Pines private road appears to be passable as of 7 pm Monday (with chains or snow tires) but parking areas and walkways are still a challenge.

Here we see Jeff Payne, Unit 13, shoveling his walkway and his pickup truck buried by snow.

Jeff’s wife, Martina Simon, offered help to neighbors who might have been snowed in:

Happy holidays! I got hold of Rebecca (Unit 33) because we dug out early and we have a big truck, being able to get to town. She said she had a neighbor help her but was grateful for the offer.
Just a regular big snow day in Incline Pines🤗
We try to ask as many folks as we can whether or not they need anything on a day like today. I think it’d be a nice idea to get a “snow chat” going.
Anyone being able to leave the complex should send out a group SMS to residents offering to pick up essential items. I called several people prior to leaving and was able to bring prescription meds and other essentials to them.

For reference, check out the pathway light at Unit 8. It’s about 6 feet tall and only the fixture at the very top of the lamppost remains visible.
