WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON TO 10 AM PST THURSDAY.

WHAT: Heavy snow and strong winds expected. Total snow accumulations of 8 to 16 inches, with 14 to 28 inches above 7000 feet including major passes. Wind gusts up to 45 mph, with Sierra ridge gusts over 100 mph.

WHERE: Greater Lake Tahoe Area.

WHEN: From 1 PM Wednesday afternoon to 10 AM PST Thursday. Heaviest snowfall rates and strongest winds between 4 PM Wednesday afternoon and 4 AM Thursday.

IMPACTS: Travel could be very difficult to nearly impossible with whiteout conditions at times from falling and blowing snow. The hazardous conditions will impact Wednesday evening`s and Thursday morning`s commutes. Long delays are likely, with road closures possible. Strong winds could cause tree damage and power outages.


Diamond Peak opens

From Diamond Peak website: Updated Dec. 15 at 9 am: Another couple inches overnight, but the BIG NEWS is that OPENING DAY is tomorrow!!!

Hope to see you on the slopes starting on Dec. 16.

We expect to open with top-to-bottom terrain and all services including rentals, limited lessons, and food and beverage options at Base Lodge Provisions and the Loft Bar.

Terrain is still being assessed so plan on checking this page on Thursday morning to see what will be open. Please use caution as early-season conditions and obstacles may exist, especially on ungroomed terrain. We will continue to make snow and expand terrain so check back here for updates.
