After months of searching, adjusting and testing– the only light fixture we’ve found that meets our criteria are the marine-style lights you may have seen at several locations in the community.
Our criteria
- Safety
- As close to “dark sky” as possible
- Durability – especially in the snow
- Fits our current 3″ diameter posts
- Works with our photo sensors
- Style / aesthetics
- Affordability ($45 each including tax and shipping from NY– we don’t have much in the reserves for this project)
- Uniformity and future availability (the marine-style fixtures are made in the USA)
- Labor costs (no additional labor costs with marine lights, others may need additional labor)
